The Stock Exchange's trading hall in Exchange Square opened in 1986, and the image of stockbrokers in red vests hurrying across the hall became an iconic and cinematic scene of securities trading. In 2018, this financial landmark was transformed into the 'Hong Kong Financial Hall', a multi-functional venue for listing ceremonies, events, exhibitions, conferences and investor education activities, giving new life to this historic landmark. Since 2011, the listing gong ceremony has become a highlight – with executives of listed companies using a wooden mallet wrapped in red cloth to strike the gong, symbolising good luck and celebrating their company's listing.
Committed to the Sustainable Development of Markets and CommunitiesHKEX is committed to promoting sustainable development and as part of its sustainability pledge, emissions generated from the 'Gong Tour' activities will be offset by the end of 2025. – End –
